Orna-mental
They’re quite used to the song and dance routine in Bollywood movies by now. No longer do my non-desi friends try to reason out the sudden synchronised pelvic thrusting movements of hundreds of people, who just happened to wear the same thing that day.
The problem actually comes when you get down to translating the songs. And it’s only then that I realised how different the songs are. They’ve glorified every single woman’s ornament that they could find… or may be even create. From top to bottom, everything has been sung about. And not just as objects, but beings.
My friends cannot understand this fascination of Hindi cinema with, say, bangles or ear-rings. And why do they sing at lenghths about it. But I guess it has something to do with our culture. Is it because we have too many of those things or because we give it too much importance?
Well whatever it is, this orna-mental music ain’t that bad ;)

maybe because its not ok in our culture to refer let alone glorify a lot of body parts?
if you hear a song abt a good nose, do let me know
good nose… hmmm…never hear any song abt it in any language :) but now that u mentioned it, i think someone shud write abt it ;)
well gels with our fascination for the ornaments …. i mean i’ve heard songs where lips are compared to sumthing etc etc but a full fledged song on nose…hmmmm i cant seem to remember one ;)
LOL! Be thankful that we are restricted to bangles & earrings. Imagine, if we were more vocal about other things… LOLz! ;)
LOL…..what about songs of the Govinda type- a la ‘Meri Pant bhi se*y, meri shirt bhi se*y,…..I wonder how ur non-desi pals would react to them??BTW,My ex-boss(non-desi) became a big fan of Hindi music,btw….without understanding the lyrics, he used to sing the songs and keep tune with the beat, while driving his car.:)

and well… there are songs abt phones, mobiles, email, blah blah in english too ! :D
its HILARIOUS if u mute the sound and watch the dancing , its so STUPID! :P
