Don’t Answer Me

A million key presses and a number of computerised apologies for the delay in answering my call, and this is what I get…

Me: My internet connection keeps getting disconnected every 2mins or so, all by itself. And at other times it doesn’t connect at all. Could you please help me fix it?
ISP Tech Support Agent: There might be a virus attack. Please log onto our website and download the free update.
Me: I would if it lets me connect!
ISP TSA: Yes ma’am. That’s correct. You have to download it from the website.
Me: Listen to me again! You’re saying I need to download this update from your website to get my connection running. Don’t you think it’s kind of impossible to do it when your connection ain’t running at all?
ISP TSA: Oh well. That’s right ma’am.
Me: Well, then what should I do?
ISP TSA: I don’t know ma’am.
Me: Try looking for another job! Thank you for wasting my time. B’bye!

As I read somewhere, “Call centers main aim is to withhold the information you need the most”. *sigh*

    maybe you could download it on a friends pc - save it and then load it on ur pc?

    apparently the problem was not the virus but the DSL line itself. grr! has been fixed now :)

    How the hell on earth can an ISP say that it’s a virus attack even without testing their connectivity. Jesus… that’s one of the most ridiculous answers i have ever heard.

    hahahahaha , gosh that sounds SO much like MY ISP’s helpdesk.

    but in my 2 years of callcenter work , i never was THAT vague !!! :P
