Daily Travel Tales
As you probably know by now, I live in the supposed “millennium city” of India. That’s the only thing abt it that sounds good. The reality is far from it. Anyways….
The second thing you all should know is that I do not have a driving license as yet. Why? Plain laziness! And no more am I allowed to drive without one (i.e. license). So next week is when I go to the RTO to get my learner’s.
The third thing you must know is that three modes of transport is what I have to use each way, when I have to travel to saddi Dilli!
Rickshaw to the place I find those sharing BPO cabs. Then the cab or a bus, if there are no cabs willing to go in my direction. And from there an autorickshaw to wherever in Delhi I have to go. Btw, if I don’t travel by cab but the bus… all my travel is done via eco-frndly ways! Tadaang!
Anyways, this being Haryana, it’s quite interesting to listen ppl talk. Nope, not the BPO crowd with fake accents, but the natives. This was a conversation that happened between 3 friends, I overheard in a cab…
Jaat 1: Yaar! Woh kampooter ka ke huaa?
Jaat 2: Arrey ruk… (calls up someone, talks for sometime andn hangs up)
Jaat 3: Ke huaa? Ke bola woh?
Jaat 2: Kuch naee. Bol riya tha ki kampooter 30 hazaar ka padey.
Jaat 1: Hain! Mhara dost toh 24 hazaar ka bole
Jaat 2: Ke keh riya hai! Aisa kaise?
Jaat 3: Arre toh uss kampooter mein CPU nahi hoga na!
The other two nod in complete agreement…
This other time it was fun listening to jaat cab drivers, talking in filmy voices over the radio. It’s even more fun the way they turn up the volume when a Himesh’s song plays on the radio. Fun to watch them enjoy the song, not fun to listen to the song… if you thought otherwise.
Besides that, the only part I despise is haggling with the autowallahs. Now I almost have a set script written. The same arguments given and taken. At times they work, at times they don’t. And strangely all the autorickshaw meters decided to stop working and never get repaired.
Yeneways, weekend is around. Hope it turns out to be good! :)

What would be Delhi style dandiya night without some bhangra? No wait… loads of bhangra.
And also what would it be without appearances by n number of obscure political figures…?
Pyaar ke side effects is a good timepass movie. The whole of it is from a guy’s point of view. Was fun to watch it!
Weekends for me are busier than the weekdays. Today was slightly relaxing. I somehow have started to love mondays for this reason. Is it a crime?

After years I can feel the festive season in the air (along with the frangrance of all the yummy delicacies!)
It’s been so long since I last felt it. Back in Dubai Ramadan used to be fun. Sheesha. Loads of food. And sheesha again! (I miss sheesha! Sigh!) But it’s different here. Much better. More happening. More colours, more excitement. It’s just so vibrant. You really have to be cold dead not to feel it. It just brings this jumpy, kid-like feeling inside you… even though you do not celebrate these festivals. The energy just gets you!!!
Besides that, watched Dor today. A good movie. I liked it. It could’ve been more dramatic probably, but that’s the Bollywood-overdosed-Indian in me speaking probably. Artistically made. Lovely shots and framing. Good story. Very different. Must watch!
And then a dandiya fest in my appartment complex. Sad! The food sucked, muzzaak sucked (they played “Brrrrrrrrrrazilllll” over and over again!) and wonly 40+ fat aunties on the floor. I just tasted everything on the menu. And came back.
Tomorrow sounds like a super fun day. Good plans lined up. Crossing my fingers and hoping they turn out good! :)

Gurgaon still sucks! This weekend should not. Will get to catch up with a lotta friends! Yay!
Will try to be more regular around here.
