Stereotypes

Dubai

Have you seen those ads of fairness creams where they give away free shade-cards for you to gauge the improvement in ur skin tone?
That’s not the change of the color of your skin you are measuring there. It’s the rise of your self-esteem and social status.

Staying in a city like this, feels like everybody has those cards over here. They do not use it for themselves, but to judge how well they should treat you.
It’s like those movie ratings you look at to decide whether to watch the movie or not. And these rating are not even given according to performance, in this case. It’s been given outta whim, massive compound superiority/ inferiority complexes or just the basic human nature of differentiating itself from others.

There’s a constant you vs. me here when two nationalities interact. And victory takes place just by the way the person looks. From his descent. From his nationality.

Why can’t this place be more about “Us”? Why can’t this place be more human?

This is a rant because of a fight I had with the staff at a supposedly hi-class store here, when I was clearly mistreated and shouted upon because I am an Indian. Not to worry… I put them in their place.

Babaji Inc.

Loud music, late night outings, nonstop dancing, a reason to dress up, a place to be seen at while listening to a selected few who are like a stuck record and rarely make any sense.

This is the new PG-rated night-life of the small towners. The nightly bhajan-kirtans and sabhas promoted by hoardings sprinkled around the town, declaring it to be your last chance of salvation. The spiritual and religious factors are again proven unchallengable.

Under this hide of spirituality, are the social and financial realms of it.
Every event is as big as a wedding, where one has to be seen in their best of attires and behaviours. Loud music somehow sends people in a bollywood-style-dance-trance, especially on sensing that one might be on camera. Family does not object to such late night ventures
Communities and sects formed for every guru, bad mouth each other. Not just the followers, the big guys themselves show their mastery at the art of sarcasm.

As a business, it’s probably one of the best option to turn black money into white. Touts placed strategic places within the crowd encourage people to donate. Huge budgets that combined could probably feed the entire nation. Some babajis at times take the liberty of revealing details of their palatial mansions. Religious channels feature only the ones they have signed up.

The content of every such sabha is almost identical to the other. Nothing new is seen or heard anywhere. And nothing makes real sense anyways. It isn’t a wonder that you don’t see them practicing their own gyaan.

More people attend these events than election rallies, without any tangible incentives.
What do they do? They use religion as much as political parties do, but offer benefits which are difficult to measure, are dependent on one’s sheer luck and not the leader’s actions.

In the list of crowd pullers, after bollywood and cricket, please welcome the new entrant… Babaji Inc.

Please ignore this

The one survival tactic one needs to survive in a country like India is perfecting the art of ignoring anything and everything.

We all have learnt to ignore men fertilizing any plant they can find on the street and often mistaking walls for plants. They’ve learnt to ignore the thousands of people walking by.
We ignore people living on meagre income and struggling for survival. They’ve learnt to ignore the luxuries of the cars passing by while they sleep on the pavement.
Most women have learnt to ignore that man staring at them while you wait around the bus stop. People around have also learnt to ignore their helplessness.
We have learnt to skip through the pages where they report crime and instead skip to page 3. The page 3 janta have learnt to ignore the reality of life.
Eventually you learn to ignore that you’re a human being who possesses free will… the power to bring a change! You end up becoming just another zombie walking around with a billion more like yourself.

We’ve really misinterpretted the real message behind Gandhiji’s 3 wise monkeys!

Abhi dikhayi diya? Nahin?

Ah, things have gotten worse since I wrote abt this.

“Officials defended the decision saying, “We would like those people to come forward who access these (the 12) radical websites and please explain to us what are they missing from their lives in the absence of these sites.” (Link to the full article)

We aren’t really missing all that much you know! But I think you missed that page in the constitution which gives every Indian citizen the freedom of speech!

Now wait, that’s not the only thing they ignored.

As Austy said, “Anonymyser zindabad. This is the level of expertise at nic toh ho gaya kalyan desh ka”

Now I’m confused what should I feel more sad about!
Just one of the great dilemmas we Indians face!

Dactaar Sahib! Kuch dikhayi nahi de raha hai!

  • Trains all over the country have stopped running!
  • All flights cancelled.
  • Postal Services dismissed.
  • Mobile phones and landlines not funtioning.
  • No vehicles allowed on the roads.
  • No internet access.
  • Talking is illegal.
  • Walking is not allowed.
  • Renting houses not allowed.
  • Eating not allowed.
  • Breathing not allowed.

That’s how the future might look like. Well you see, coz the terrorists use the trains, planes, buses, houses, air, water, etc etc. So since nobody can actually catch them, lets just pull away all of the above from the common innocent citizens.

Yes, there existed a time when all blogs were accessible!

And btw, those looking for SIMI, she comes every Sunday on Starworld!
